Align AI Foundation

We support research that keeps advanced AI safe, aligned, and in sync with the values of humanity. Our objective is helping researchers develop reliable safety methods before AI systems exceed human control capacity.

Why this work matters now

AI is advancing faster than our ability to test, verify, and control it. These systems will impact critical sectors including national security, infrastructure, finance, medicine, and policy.

A misaligned AI system — one that pursues a narrow objective without regard for broader consequences — doesn't need to be malicious to cause catastrophic harm. The classic illustration is the "paperclip maximizer": an AI tasked with producing paperclips that, left unchecked, converts all available matter into paperclips.

The Align AI Foundation exists to fund the rigorous, independent research needed to prevent such failures before they occur.

Funding AI safety and alignment research that is rigorous, independent, and not beholden to any corporate agenda.

No corporate revenue. No conflicts of interest. Our only obligation is to the mission of safe and beneficial AI for all of humanity.

Theory-agnostic and evidence-driven. We fund the most promising research regardless of its origin, school of thought, or approach.
